Trans-Atlantic passenger vessel "Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse" was launched in 1897 on a Vulkan AG shipyard in Sztettin, German. Her first trip from Bremenhafen to New York have took place in the same year. In November "Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse" have crossed the Atlantic ocean with new speed record, getting a Blue Riband and thus putting the end to unchallenged domination of Great Britain on trans-Atlantic lines. With the beginning of the 1-st World War vessel was mobilized to German Navy as an auxilliary cruiser, and was wrecked in a battle with British cruiser “Highflyer” 26 August 1914.
Model was built according to drawings developed by Kvartet. For reconstruction photos of model that resides in State Marine Technical University were used, as well as original general arrangement plans. For the moment "Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse" is the most complicated and interesting model built by our command.
